Ghana’s Former Tourist Minister Says Death Rumours ‘Idiotic’
A one time Tourism Minister in Ghana, Mr Obetsebi Lamptey whose supposed death went viral on Ghanaian websites late last night and early hours of this morning, after rumours came to town that the light skinned man had joined his ancestors in far away South Africa where he had gone for treatment, but sadly died. Obetsebi has however denied his death rumours, asking rumour mongers to get a job.
In an interview from his residence in South Africa, Obetsebi told Nana Yaw Kesse on Peace FM’s morning show, ‘Kokrokoo,’ that the mischief makers have failed.
“To the mischief makers, the people who, without a shred of truth, come and start pushing out all sorts of lies and rumours and build up stories to distract people from legitimate pursuits, I say you are just distractive, you are not helping anybody. Get a life, start doing something more useful. But I am well,” he said.
Obetsebi was however not enthused about why “people go out of their way to manufacture idiotic stories when there are so many serious stories that concern our country that are going on that people should be concerned with…it shows futility of what goes on, on social media, unfortunately.”
Obetsebi has however been less involved in Ghana’s politics in the last few months. We are glad he is alive.
