Troops from the 14 Brigade Garrison arrested a kidnapper and rescued a victim in Nkporo Community in Ohafia Local Government Area (LGA), Abia State on Sunday, April 10.
The victim was shot and kidnapped by Chidiebere Sunday and his accomplices in Aba on April 6. Mr. Sunday was apprehended and arrested, but two of his suspected accomplices were able to escape. Another kidnapper died falling from a roof while trying to escape arrest.
Military spokesman Colonel Sani Usman described the group of kidnappers as a “kidnapping syndicate.”
Several weapons and ammunitions were recovered from the syndicate, including two AK-47 rifles and nine AK-47 magazines, one pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, and two machetes. The sum of N5.490m and a Toyota RAV4 jeep were also confiscated from the scene.
