TRADITIONAL, religious and political leaders and residents of Mabheleni Village gathered and said enough is enough! They want to stop crime in their area.
They gathered on Thursday at KwaGwabhu Sports Ground in Mabheleni Village near Port Shepstone, on the south coast of KZN.
They blamed drugs as the main reason young people commit crime. They pleaded for unity and respect within the community.
Traditional healer Thembi Bhengu from Mtwalume said in some cases people are misled by foreign healers.
“True healers don’t use human body parts. In the past, healers didn’t go near dead bodies, but now that has changed.
“Some of our people go to Mozambique to seek healing. Inyangas over there tell their patients to bring human heads. That is not what we do as traditional healers in South Africa. Human body parts don’t heal,” she said.
Local inkosi Nelisiwe Mbhele said she is still upset by an incident last year where nine people were attacked and killed by their relatives.
The killers had accused the victims of bewitching them. The Mncwabe family was hacked and their house was set alight.
“I would like us to make sure something like never happens again in our village,” she said.
